Just Touched Down In London Town: Soho, 'The T-Shirt Tour' / The Fouberts Place T-Shirt Guide

Marc Jacobs, Protect The Skin You're In.

I've never really been a big t-shirt girl, I usually lean towards cutesy floral blouses and tighter fitting sweaters and cardis. And when I do go for t-shirts, they are almost always simple and subtle. The only eye-catching t-shirt I own that I wear over and over and over again is my green Marc Jacobs skin cancer awareness T. It is a palm-tree green loose t-shirt, with a naked Milla Jovovich gracing the front with only the big and bold phrase 'Protect The Skin You're In' there to hide her modesty. I've never worn it out of the house, but it fulfils it's purpose as my 'homework' and 'chill out' top just fine. It's comfortable and baggy, and after having spent the majority of the last two years wearing it when home, I now understand and relate to the appeal of t-shirts.

"Welcome To Carnaby Street"
I often go to Soho, I go to the Whole Foods and Snog on Brewer Street, I go to Yauatcha on Broadwick Street for Sunday Lunches with my family, I go to Liberty London and Klein's (my new favourite haberdashery) and I enjoy sauntering down Carnaby Street. But not once before this most recent trip to Soho did it cross my mind to discover what lay left and right of Carnaby Street. How does this relate to t-shirts, you may be asking? Well, it was while I was getting lost left and right of Carnaby Street that I found myself on Fouberts Place, where I was met by not just one great t-shirt shop, but three.

Welcome to Lazy Oaf.
T-Shirts and Polos on display at Lazy Oaf.
Even more t-shirts and hoodies at Lazy Oaf. Love the yellow zip one!
The first shop I stumbled into was Lazy Oaf, 19 Fouberts Place, London, W1F 7QE. A school friend introduced me to Lazy Oaf last september when she showed me the website one lunch break. However despite falling in love with the necklaces on the website, over the course of the school year the mental note / reminder I had made myself to pop in to the shop had escaped my mind. From the minute I stepped foot into the shop, the dazzling and brilliant colours of the t-shirts, hoodies, necklaces and brooches were every where- I found myself in a great mood and ready to do some last-minute summer shopping.

The t-shirts are fun, young and some even humorous. The hoodies and sweaters are the funnest I've seen to date. My favourite thing however, were the vintage looking supercool sunglasses- perfect for a holiday abroad or even a day in London. Next time you're in Soho, be sure to stop by Lazy Oaf- home of the funkiest necklaces, brightest tops and hippest sunnies.

Super Superficial.
Couldn't resist snapping the Queen bobble-head in the Super Superficial window.
Many, many t-shirts.
The second shop I found myself in was coincidentally a t-shirt shop too. Just a stone's throw from Lazy Oaf, Super Superficial, 17 Fouberts Place, London, W1F 7QD, is the go-to shop if in need of a tongue-in-cheek t-shirt. The small shop is packed with t-shirts everywhere, all of which have been designed and made by artists. Some feature illustrations such as the Queen with a moustache while others are more 'cartoony'.

Hilarious 'Will and Kate' themed t-shirt.
My favourite t-shirt was the William and Kate t-shirt, t-shirt William does actually bear resemblance to the real Prince William although Kate looks nothing like the Duchess. The reason that I couldn't resist getting my hands on this t-shirt, is the cheeky banner below the portrait declaring 'IV DAYS OFF, WILL & KATE, CHEERS'.
Johnny Cupcakes.
Johnny Cupcakes.
The size guide is made to look like 'Nutrition Facts'.
Johnny Cupcakes, 10 Fouberts Place, London, W1F 7PF. When I first spotted this small white shop across the street from Lazy Oaf and Super Superficial, the last thing I expected it to be was a t-shirt shop. I truly did fall for it. My mouth began watering at the thought of biting into a fluffy cupcake. I believed this was a cupcake shop and I was ready to treat myself to a red velvet treat- my absolute favourite. Although I am always up for finding shops I never before knew existed, to say I was terribly disappointed Johnny Cupcakes did in fact sell t-shirts and not cupcakes is quite an understatement.
T-shirts and accessories on display.
Hello Kitty Johnny Cupcake T-Shirts!
However, my mood swiftly changed after I spotted these to-die-for Hello Kitty t-shirts! With my mum having grown up in Japan, I always had more Hello Kitty toys than Barbie dolls growing up, and my Hello Kitty love affair still lives on today.
